eSATA adapter lets you hook into a USB 3.0 port

USB 3.0 is still more or less in its early stages of adoption. I like to think I’m on the edge with technology and currently only have one computer with a pair of such ports, and one device (a hard drive dock) that utilizes it. Not a lot of people have either, but if you’re looking to make use of a USB 3.0 port or two after upgrading, here’s a neat little device that might help.

eSATA is capable of higher speeds that the old USB 2.0 standard. If your external hard drive features both ports, but your PC doesn’t, then you can still achieve higher data rates. How? By using this $30 eSATA.0 to USB 3.0 Adapter. It takes your external device with an eSATA port and converts it into a USB 3.0 connection. Sure, there aren’t a lot of scenarios where you’ll need a device like this, but I’m all for any gadget that offers more connectivity and higher data speeds.
