Art Lebdev designs a disposable flash drive

Are flash drives really so common that they’re almost a disposable commodity? If you’ve ever been to a trade show, you might think that the answer is yes. Art Lebedev would agree with you. Yes, the same people that brought us the most expensive keyboard (Optimus Maximus) in the world are working on disposable flash drives.

Being the hoarder of technology that I am, I couldn’t ever see myself actually throwing away a perfectly good flash drive. However, I can definitely see the benefits of having a drive on a piece of cardboard, rather than in some plastic or metal housing. Not only would they be cheaper to make, but also much easier on the environment. I imagine that it’s also much easier to customize them as well. No word on when these are coming or how much, but I hope that the idea catches on.
