Call internationally on any phone with Skype to Go

Making phone calls in your own country is pretty easy, and cheap these days. However, once you start trying to call a friend overseas, it gets a little more hairy. Personally, I use Skype to accomplish this, and thanks to owning a smartphone, dialing an international number only takes a couple of extra steps. If you don’t have a phone capable of installing Skype software, then you’ve been pretty much out of luck. But not anymore.

Skype has updated their Skype to Go service to make international calls even easier, especially for people who don’t have smartphones. If you have someone overseas that you call somewhat regularly, you can give Skype that number, and in return they will give you a number with a local area code. Then, whenever you dial that local number, you’ll be connected to the person you’re trying to reach overseas. This will work on any phone, which means you need only save it in your contacts, and forget about it. You will, however, be charged Skype’s regular international rates for each phone call made this way.
