With it being the latest in the Nintendo’s line of portable gaming units, one would think that it is superior to its predecessor. Though it may have glasses-free 3D video, its loading times for old DS games makes the new game system smell a little less enticing.
One would think the loading times for older DS games should be half or even a fourth less the older versions, but Gamespot managed to let us in on a secret. They nabbed a Japanese 3DS from last month’s launch, and compared the load time from several different games ranging from the 3DS to the DS Lite. In some cases, it took almost 35% longer to load DS games. The culprit for the long load times is of course the fact that the device has to use an emulator to play the older games. The extra load time isn’t fun, but it’s a price I’m willing to pay for the ability to still play DS games.
