Fujitsu Power Strip lets you monitor your power usage

Everyone wants to cut down on their energy consumption, as it will help lower bills. Its really difficult however, to find out what is sucking up the most energy in the house to try and use it less. Unless you have geek-rigged your home already to know exactly how much energy is being used and where, theres a good chance youll need a little help finding out that information.

Fujitsu had those of us who need that help in mind when they created the FX-5204PS power strip and the FX-5250GW gateway. These work just the same as their normal counterparts, but they have a USB 2.0 or Ethernet cable hookup capability that will let you know the exact amount of power consumption coming from each socket. These will be on the market in Japan in April price at 10,000 yen ($1,000) for the Power Strip, and 45,000 yen ($4,500) for the Gateway. This of course begs the question of how long it will take to make back the cost of the devices in energy savings.
