If you’re an aspiring DJ, you know that having the right software is essential to creating great mixes. Such programs can be a bit on the expensive side, but if you know where to look, you can find one for free. I’m talking about Mixxx, the free, open-source DJ software that doesn’t slack on the features.
Mixxx works with most MIDI DJ controllers and supports a wide variety of audio files and API’s. It has some pretty cool features, such as the ability to broadcast music via Shoutcast and direct deck outputs for external mixers. Once you dig into it, you’ll find enough to keep pace with even the most expensive software on the market. The best part is that you’ll find it for free on both Mac and PC platforms. If you’ve wanted to get your feet wet, or are looking for an alternative to the software you’re currently using, definitely give Mixxx a spin.
