Wooden Bicycles come of age?

woodenbikes Wooden Bicycles come of age?

The unpronounceably named Slawomir Weremkowicz of Poland makes wooden bikes. No rubber, no metal, just wood. Each one takes around a year to make and judging by the looks of them, they’re a blast to ride (although we’re not sure about the saddles). What’s more the dude uses his creations every day.

We think Slaw should get in touch with Michael Thompson in the UK, who’s also nutty enough to consider building bipedal transportation out of trees. His Splinter Bike is an odder looking craft though, and what’s more it’s going to attempt to break the land speed record for 100% Wooden Bicycles (there’s an official record? sheesh) sometime this year. Weird world.

No bolts or screws, just wood and glues! Welcome to the home of the Splinter Bike… …a 100% Wooden Bicycle Land Speed Record… attempt!
