There are times when drivers and pedestrians alike aren’t paying attention to those on bicycles. There are far too many incidents with cyclists in which they could just not make their presence known to those around them. Hand signals and bells may be of some help, but it usually takes something out of the ordinary to alert someone who’s minding the road and not you.
The Verbal Bicycle Bell might just be the best way to keep bicyclists from becoming roadkill. It has a default On your left that it will proclaim at 80 decibels from a 44mm speaker, or you can program in your own message. You can record for up to 20 seconds, and with 80 decibels of sound (about the same as a vacuum) to back it up, you bet that someone is going to hear you. There is also the standard bicycle bell sound to fall back on if needed. This Verbal Bicycle Bell is going to cost $24.95 and is powered by three LR44 batteries.
