DIY Project brings a new meaning to the term potter’s wheel

Half of the fun of making art is the process that you go through. There is something liberating about putting a pencil to paper, or slinging paint of a canvas that is freeing. Unfortunately, some forms of artistic expression require very specialized tools, which can be costly. So what do you do when you want to start creating something, but don’t have the right tools? Why, you make them, of course!

A nice potter’s wheel can easily set you back a couple hundred bucks, which makes the related art form a difficult one to pick up. However, using an old tire, a tree stump and a few other parts, you can build one of these. Sure, you aren’t going to be able to fire it up with just the push of a foot pedal, but it will work just as well. Plus, you’ll have the satisfaction of not only knowing that you’ve created pieces of artwork, but that you even went so far as to construct the primary crafting tool.
