Well now with GTrot, you can easily find out that info.

This handy web app goes through the information that your friends have made available to you such as their check-ins, the locations of their employers and where they’ve lived. Then, when you do a search for a location, it will let you know which friends have been there. This allows you to get in touch with those people, so that you can talk to them about advice on where to stay, dine and relax.
