While I have converted over to reading mostly ebooks these days, I still refuse to get rid of my trusty hardbacks. In fact, I have a number that don’t currently exist in ebook form. One of my favorite things about using a tablet for reading is that it comes with its own light source. I no longer need to leave on a bedside lamp just to flip a few pages before I go to sleep. One way to bring this feature to old-fashioned books is by using the LightWedge.

The LightWedge is a set of LEDs that shine onto a piece of glass, illuminating it. The glass sits over the page you’re reading, and allows you to see the words clearly. It is supposed to be a soft, even light that is bright enough for you to read, but not enough to disturb anyone else in the room. The device charges via USB and will give off 15 hours worth of light per charge. At $50, it will cost you more than a new hardback book.
