Honda’s newest ASIMO video demonstrates just how much a robot can do

We humans seem to have this fascination with robots. We write stories about them, produce high-budget films about them taking over the world, and even work to create robots that look and act like us. Unfortunately, creating these robots is no easy task. Honda has been working for a number of years on their ASIMO bots, and while they’re still a long way from creating a true human-like device, their latest model is getting close enough to be creepy.

One of the hardest things to get a robot to do is actually walk like a human, it would seem. After watching the video below, you can see that Honda has made great strides in that department, though ASIMO does look very timid when moving about. He can also do a number of other tasks, including converse with multiple people, open containers, and pour liquids into cups. Honda still has a long way to go, if they ever want to make a commercial product. However, they’ve definitely succeeded in making a robot that is just realistic enough to creep people out that encounter it.
