Biscotti TV Phone lets you make free video calls with your TV

Using Skype on your computer is a great way to stay in touch with loved ones that live far away. However, some people don’t want to be limited to doing it on a small screen, or perhaps they don’t want to mess with a computer at all. For those people there is the Biscotti TV Phone. As the name implies, it turns your TV into a video phone.

Sitting on top of the TV, this device turns your largest screen into the perfect way to talk to friends and family. The camera captures video at 720p, and displays it via HDMI on your big screen. It grabs internet (which is naturally required) via WiFi, so you don’t have to worry about running messy cables. The device doesn’t restrict you to just calling other people who have one. Instead, you can use it to call any computer, tablet, or smartphone that supports Google Voice with video. The best part is that they don’t charge you for the service. You need only pay the initial $200 for the device itself. Generally, I’d say that $200 is a lot of money for a webcam, but then again I can’t hook many webcams up to display on my TV.
