Turn an old hard drive into a working speaker

There are certain basic components that one needs for their computer, other than the internal components. A display, keyboard, mouse and speakers are generally all necessary. Well let’s say that for whatever reason, you have no speakers, but need to find a way to output audio. Let’s also assume that you have a spare hard drive that you’re willing to dissect, and a few other key components. If you’re in this situation, you may yet be able to get those sounds from the computer to your ears.

I can’t actually think of any truly practical situations where one would want to turn a hard drive into a speaker. However, it’s one of those projects that you can do more for fun, than anything. Essentially what you’re doing is getting the actuator arm to create the necessary waves to create the sound.
