QuNeo multitouch pad will change the way you make music

Over the centuries we’ve found a lot of ways to produce music. From something as simple as banging a stick on a drum to electronic synthesizers. If you’re all about producing music in a modern fashion, then you might be interested in this new QuNeo multitouch pad.

Aimed at electronic musicians, DJs, VJs and DIY hackers, this device is unlike anything currently available to musicians. There are a total of 27 pads, sliders and rotary sensors, which are pressure, velocity and location sensitive. This means that pad can be set to produce a different effect, depending on where and how you press on it. Suddenly, those 27 pads can now perform hundreds of functions.

Behind the pads you’ll find 251 multi-color LEDs, which will react to how each pad is being used. It might produce colors as feedback to you striking a pad, or light up a slider to let you know what level you have it set to. What’s more, is that they have decided to open source the software, and make an API available at launch. Not only do they allow you to modify it, they encourage it!

One last nice touch is that they designed the QuNeo to have the same dimensions as an iPad, allowing you to use many stands that are already on the market. This Kickstarter fund has already reached its goal, so you can be assured that this will hit the market in the future. You can get yourself on the list for one for just $200, or a pair for $375.
