A New Zealand company claims that it has created RFID tags which work much more effectively than current versions, with longer range and lower costs. The Sandtracker technology ‘promises to allow data to be read from unpowered RFID tags from up to five metres away, regardless of their orientation, and allows more than 4000 RFID tags to be read simultaneously by a single reader.
