It’s no secret that I have a love for steampunk. I’m always on the lookout for items that incorporate the style into functional objects. One of my favorite things to see steampunked is a pocket watch. Unfortunately most of the ones I see look interesting, but are still nothing but battery-powered timepieces at their core. However, this Solar Powered Turbine Fob Watch has a bit more to it.

As the name implies, this gadget is solar powered, but not in the usual sense. When in sunlight, you’ll find that the turbine blades actually rotate, which is what generates the necessary energy. If you don’t have ample sunlight available, you can crank the turbine yourself to keep it going. $149 is pretty pricey for a watch, but at least it’s an interesting one.
