What if your wireless mouse didn’t need a battery?

When wireless mice first went mainstream, people were overjoyed to finally be rid of that annoying cable. While the appeal was there, they weren’t exactly the greatest of devices. Early receivers still had a cord, and still needed to be positioned on your desk to get a strong signal. And of course, battery life is still a problem these days. Sure, companies like Logitech have made mice that will go many months without needing fresh batteries, one company is taking a different approach.

Genius has released their ECO-Friendly Battery-Free BlueEye Mouse, which as its name implies, has no battery at all. Instead, it features a gold capacitor, which can charge in just 3 minutes. Unfortunately the company doesn’t state how long each charge will last. Aside from that, it will operate just like any ordinary wireless mouse. It features a tiny USB receiver, and functions up to 15 meters away. At just $40, it doesn’t sound like too bad of a deal, provided that it lasts more than a couple of days between charges.
