but is it art? posted by

Would a Zen Table make your life more peaceful?

We all wish that we could have a zen garden that has freshly raked sand, as it evokes a feeling of peace and well-being. However, it is really difficult to keep up with something like that unless you literally have nothing else to do in a day. As relaxing as they are, it would end up being more stressful to keep such a garden at home. Unless of course, you had robots doing it for you.

Simon Hallam came up with the idea for a Zen Table that puts those perfect lines in the sand, by way of robotic arm. Coming in either a coffee table or desktop option, you can have whatever you’d like drawn into the sand, whether that be a logo, or just a pattern that you find aesthetically pleasing. It’s always amazing to see art and technology merge together, and Mr. Hallam seems to have done just that. Watching this thing in action is mesmerizing to say in the least. It would definitely be a way to relax at home after a long day of work. If you’re interested in the desktop version, you’ll be looking at a $500-$700 price range. However, if it’s the full-size coffee table you’re after, you’ll be looking at having to spend $5000-$7000. Even if it is beautiful, I can only see it in expensive restaurants or waiting rooms of specialists who are rolling in money.
