If you are a contractor, consultant, or professional in general, chances are pretty high that you’ll be receiving payments whilst out and about. While it may be cash a number of times, it’s a little hard when you need to run a credit card, and dont have the proper equipment to do so. You can’t very well take a full-blown credit card machine with you, so why not look to a smaller option?
The Smartphone Credit Card Terminal is a mobile credit card reader that will plug into the headphone jack, and work anywhere that has cellular coverage. A free app comes alongside this plug-in for $100, and makes transactions easy as pie. The information you input is encrypted, and the unit won’t store any data, which will make this whole process very secure. It will work with your iPhone, iPod, Blackberry, or Android, and will still implement all standard credit card fees. All major credit cards should work with it, so long as you remember to keep your phone charged.
Boy, talk about being late to the party, oversized, and way overpriced. Square has been doing this thing for a couple of years, with a free reader and software, and reasonable per-transaction costs: https://squareup.com/square
The really funny part when I viewed it was the intuit advertisement for the same thing right under the article! LOL I about lost my cookies on that one. I agree though, a little late and very expensive compared to other alternatives.
