If you’re a Google Calendar user, you’ll know that while it’s great for sharing calendars privately and publicly, it’s a real problem publishing them to an email audience, especially in a decent format. Not only that but it’s impossible to select particular parts and email them to people, you either have to make the whole agenda public or nothing. Well now there’s a better way.
PubMyCal is a new web application which is designed to make it trivially easy to publish calendar segments via email to as many people as you like. To use it you connect the service with your Google Calendar, and then select the calendar you wish to share. Choose the date segment, and check that the events in that period are the ones you want. Then add the target email addresses, and press send. It’s as easy as adding new entries to the calendar.
The shared events are very nicely laid out in the email, but unfortunately there doesn’t appear to be a simple way for people to add any of the events to their own calendar from the message, which is a shame. Nevertheless it’s a nice app and one that could be very useful for people who need to share their itinerary, events or other dates on a regular basis.
