Kalkhoff 24ah Lithium Battery extends standard electric bicycle range to 200 km

Electric bicycles are definitely becoming more popular as a form of commuter and leisure transport. They’re relatively cheap, very economical to run and have the added benefit of improving our health at the same time as we travel. In fact the only real drawback to them has been the meagre range you can get from a normal bike, unless you’re prepared to carry two batteries or a charger with you to work.

All that may be about to change, if this new generation of massive Lithium battery takes off. This Kalkhoff 24ah Lithium Battery for instance, may be large and weigh more than you’d expect, but it boosts the bike’s range up to 200 km (that’s around 124 miles) which is perfect for touring or long distance endurance. There’s also a rapid charger which can charge it up in around 5 to 6 hours.

We’re not sure how many commuters would currently be prepared to sit in a saddle for 60 miles each way, but maybe if gas continues to rise in price, we may all have to think again about our transport options. Anyway, with a range that large, you won’t have to worry about using too much battery power on steep hills any more.

It’s designed for Kalkhoff/Panasonic 26V bikes, but expect to see similar products for general use on other products soon. Priced at a stonking £695.00 per battery.
