1960s IBM Standard Issue Clock takes you back in time with style

What is it about retro style that gets the emotions pumping? What, you think I’m joking? Take a look around and notice how nice you feel when you see something made long ago which is still working well. Or something you cherish because it brings memories flooding back. See? That’s the power of retro.

It’s also partly because older stuff seemed to generally work better. It’s one reason why I keep an old IBM style clackety clack PC keyboard at my feet in case of emergencies. It’s just reassuring to have it around. This 1960s IBM Standard Issue Clock is an example of another icon of the past which set the tone for many offices of the time. Ugly as sin really, isn’t it? But beautiful at the same time.

This 13.5 inch reproduction is made of spun steel and features original 1947 style graphics, has a modern quartz movement and runs from a single C sized battery. I’m not sure how much they cost back then, but today this puppy will set you back $235.00. Antiquity doesn’t come cheap y’know?

These were great clocks. Easy to read, never stopped, and lasted forever! I miss them.
