Game Downloader puts the world of open source games at your fingertips [Freeware]

Regular readers will know we’re passionate fans of open source and freeware games. We featured our own 70 Best Games guide a while back, and we’re always trying to promote the best of the genre where we can. This latest freeware, however, is a little different, but in a good way.

The Game Downloader program is a free tool which gives instant access to a catalog of over 200 free games for downloading. The library is held on a remote server, which means it’s constantly being updated as more games are added. We particularly like the fact that the software makes it very easy to get an idea of what the game is like, and there’s even a search function to check out YouTube videos before you download.

The interface is simple and the games are divided into categories like platform or racing which is great for searching for your favourite genre. It’s also quick. This is a great idea, and should help introduce free gaming to a whole new class of people. Excellent and definitely worth a download.
