When you go from an engine to an electric motor, things are bound to be different. When it comes to motorcycles, having an electric-powered bike isn’t a bad thing, but it’s not exactly smiled on, either. The main reason for that is that it doesn’t ride the same way, as you don’t have to worry about the clutch and gear shift.
The Brammo Empulse Electric Bike hopes to bring the experience you know and love, without having to sacrifice anything. It uses an integrated electric transmission, which will feel quite similar to an internal combustion engine. It has an electric motor, and uses a clutch and gear shift that will allow you to get to a high top speed quickly, which is something other bikes in this realm normally can’t do. It features a battery that can be fully charged within eight hours, and will run you about 121miles in city limits, 56 on the highway, or a combined 77. You can choose to pre-order either the Empulse which costs about $17,000, or the Empulse R model which has carbon fiber parts, which will cost about $19,000.
