There are mobile phones and then there are ‘mobile phones‘. Know what we mean? So you can get some fancy functionality with a smartphone, and even the cheapest handset will offer music players, FM radios, games and some kind of memo or calendar function. But there are certain cell phones which are the Rambo of the genre, and they want to do it all.

The Vigis Cell Phone Walkie Talkie is one of those creatures. Not only is it shockproof, waterproof and virtually indestructible, but it also incorporates a walkie talkie function so you can chat without charge to any other PTT intercom device or Vigis handset at the push of a button. It has a hardened magnesium frame and a 3.5mm rubberized casing, built to withstand a drop of 2 meters onto concrete, as well as integrated compass, air pressure and temperature and GPS sensors. Oh and did we mention the built-in LED flashlight?

The QuadBand handset is submersible to 1 meter underwater, has a standby time of up to 240 hours and can accept microSD cards up to 16GB. The walkie talkie function operates for up to 5 kilometers over open ground and the phone operates in eight languages including Russian and Turkish. Priced at $198.92 €162.00 or £126.59.

Hi Guys, this is a cell phone not a smartphone – it doesn't run apps, etc., so there is no OS to speak of. It is a very durable phone for the price.
