$88 Mini 7 Inch Netbook says ya-boo-sucks to tablet computers

Wait, hold on, what was that about netbooks being dead again? All this tablet mania has kind of obscured the fact that there are alternatives which actually can make a lot of sense, especially if you just need simple tasks like email, surfing and watching the occasional video. Heck, by the time you bring a tablet up to spec with a keyboard and protective case you can be spending a lot of money just to watch some YouTube clips now and then.

This Mini 7 Inch Netbook at $88 is an absolute steal of a product for students and anyone else wanting something small and convenient to connect to the Web. Sure it features a pretty tame ARM processor, and only 128MB of RAM, but it also comes with an SVGA 7 inch TFT screen, a 2GB flash drive, SD card slot (which can take you up to 32GB), three USB ports, speakers, microphone and WiFi and Ethernet connections.

Remember the price here folks. It runs on WinCE 6.0, has a trackpad and a 1800mAh battery to give you a couple of hours portable run time. And it weighs a trifling 0.65kg. Did we mention it costs $88 with free shipping, 10 days money back, one month exchange and a 12 months warranty? Oh and in case you were wondering, Microsoft WinCE 6.0 is a pretty vibrant platform which runs Flash, MS Office products and most of the popular video codecs. Plug a 3G dongle into one of the USB ports and you’re really talking road warrior!
