Hand crafted Oree Walnut Bluetooth Keyboard brings a touch of class to your desktop

Nature and computer technology don’t often mix, but when they do the results can either be great or a real disaster. A mobile phone made of hay is one idea we’re not totally sure about, but on the other hand we’d love to see this wooden electric car built and sold at dealerships.

Somewhere in the middle there’s the growing trend to build our computer peripherals in various different natural materials which offer sensible advantages, and one of the nicest we’ve come across is this artisan Oree Walnut Bluetooth Keyboard, which mixes state of the art wireless keyboard technology with a beautiful hand crafted wood casing.

The whole keyboard unit is carved out of a single piece of Walnut (it’s also available in Maple) and is polished and oil rubbed for durability. Buyers can also configure the keyset before purchase, by choosing either US, French or UK keyboard layouts, and selecting the keycap fonts they want. You can also add a personal inscription of up to 30 characters.

The low power Bluetooth chipset will keep working for ‘several months’ on one pair of AAA batteries, which is also earth friendly.

This is not any old mass produced peripheral, but a lovingly hand crafted piece of art created by Julien Salanave and his small team, so the price reflects that attention to detail. The keyboard costs €125 plus shipping, and the company can deliver to North American and the EU.

  • Cocabolo keys would really set it off.
