Balancing Siphone Coffee Maker Balancing Siphon Coffee Maker turns your morning brew into a science experiment

Some people are very particular about how their coffee is made. While there are those who prefer to use a French press, some want to use a percolator, and others don’t care how they get it, so long as they get it. While some may not see the art to this tasty and varied brown beverage, others enjoy it to the point that they’re willing to splurge on items that will brew them the perfect cup.

If you are one of those people, then the genuine Balancing Siphon Coffee Maker might be of particular interest to you. The idea for this machine was made in the 1830s by Leoff of Berlin, and it has a rather particular method to get the job done:

“An alcohol burner heats water inside the copper kettle to 212º F, causing it to pass through the pipette and into the lead crystal brewing chamber where it steeps the coffee grounds at the ideal temperature for making rich, complex coffee. As water exits the kettle its integrated counterweight and hinge elevate the vessel, allowing the spring-loaded candle snuffer to cover and extinguish the alcohol burner’s flame. As the water begins to cool slightly in the brewing chamber, the internal pressure is lowered and a vacuum is created that draws the brewed coffee back to the kettle (the pipette’s filter removes coffee grounds) where it can be dispensed through the spigot.”

This $700 brewing method is only for those who are rolling in money and have a deep respect for brewing methods of coffee.

You can, however, get a decent siphon brewer for $50.
