Back in the day, things were like…older. And better. And more peaceful. And a bunch of other adjectives which are probably total rubbish. But one things is undeniable…they knew how to put on a magazine spread properly. Instead of airbrushed photos of vacuous models, they’d deliver lovingly crafted color illustrations. And the information would be really useful and interesting.

Like this collection of Popular Mechanics Household Tips, culled from the years between 1910 and 1972. These are only screengrabs, but my do they look delicious. It almost makes me want to pop out, buy a hammer and make myself a hosepipe tool holder (1948) or a bandit proof milk crate (1943). Fabulous.

Maybe that's all they did? I just counted from 1910 to 1972.
