We don’t know how long or how far this descent to oblivion is going to go on for, but we’ve located what seems to us to be the cheapest 7 inch tablet computer on the planet. The thing is so low cost it doesn’t even have a name poor creature, but you can buy a single one if you’re happy to pay the same again for the shipping costs. The price? An incredible $39.79, and for a spec that’s not too shabby…
The No-Name Device comes with 4GB internal storage, a 1.2 GHz processor, 256MB RAM, Android 2.3, WiFi, microSD card support up to 32GB, 2 x USB ports, 0.3 megapixel camera, dual speakers and a built in microphone, accelerometer, support for external 3G dongle and 1080p HDMI output. It’s got a resistive screen though, so although it’s barely multi-touch, don’t expect awesome responsiveness. But remember the price.
The suppliers also include a 3600mAh battery which should be good enough for 10 minutes of operation. Just kidding, hopefully it will deliver some reasonable period, although the track record for cheap tablets is not great. Most only last for around 1 to 2 hours max, depending on what you’re doing.
Anyhoo, here it is. For less than the price of a bottle of fancy olive oil. Weird.
