You know what they say, if you want to know what’s coming down the chimney this Xmas time, the best person to ask is an Elf. Well we don’t have any Elves handy at the moment, but we do have a bulk sourcing report from the Far East which offers us a nice glimpse into the depths of Santa’s man bag. And what do we see?
Well judging by the Year on Year growth patterns of certain consumer electronic products we can confidently predict that quite a few stockings will be filled with tablet PCs. Yep, just when you thought the bubble couldn’t get any worse, we see that enquiries about volume purchases of tablets is nearly double that of last year.
Likewise power bank products, which are up an astonishing 1,188% on last year, which shows that we’re all desperately looking for ways to keep our gadgets and gizmos charged up on the move. Phone cases and accessories are also way up (over 100% each) which either shows how obsessively protective we are of our little mobile pals, or how paranoid. Not sure which.
If you’ve got any shares in laptop makers, you might want to think about shifting them now, since laptop enquiries at the factory gate are down 31% compared to last year, clearly a victim of all this tablet frenzy. It’s OK though, because leather iPad cases are really booming. Wow. Here’s hoping the sleigh bells keep ringing as the end of year approaches, otherwise there could be a few pink slip parties in Lapland come January.
