Bluetooth Handsfree Receiver Bicycle Lamp – talk and see with ease as you pedal

The rise and rise of the bicycle continues apace, keeping track with increasingly expensive oil prices of course. Most urban locations in the West have experienced a large shift up in bicycle use, especially for those shorter journeys where the car used to be the default. And along with the upshift, has come a bunch of new gadgets intended to make our journeys more pleasant and productive.

This Bluetooth Handsfree Receiver Bicycle Lamp is a clever combo gadget which integrates a full Bluetooth hands-free system for your smartphone, with a front LED lamp for visibility. The device lets you listen to your music through the twin 1.5 watt speakers, or make and receive phone calls via the internal microphone, and also stay safe at night with a 100 lumens, 1W LED lamp with high, low and flashing modes.

It’s water resistant, features a USB connect rechargeable battery which gives around 5 hours continual use and comes with a quick snap on/off connector to keep it out of the hands of villains. Sounds good. Priced at $59.91/£37.39. Neat.

  • Not so sure about hands-free phone calls – I wouldn't like to have others listening in to BOTH sides of my mobile conversations and the mike would probably have difficulty picking up my voice above traffic noise – but I do see possibilities in using this for listening to music, audiobooks, satnav instructions without earbuds shutting out traffic sounds and the smartphone can be kept safely out of the rain in a waterproof bag.
The 1500mAh battery won't last 5½ hours with the 1W lamp on full power but we can always add a dynamo charger.

    • Oh yes, satnav instructions is something I hadn't thought of.
