When you’re riding a bike, you need to make sure that you can hear what’s going on around you. Many people like to listen to music while they’re pedaling along, which is fine and dandy, so long as you’re not blocking out all exterior sound. There are enough distractions out there as is, and trying to answer your phone, or change tracks on a song could quickly become a life or death situation.
The Receptor BUG Communication helmet is a very sleek looking form of noggin protection with some built-in headphones. Of course, it wouldn’t make sense for this thing to cost around $340 if they were anything other than Beats by Dr. Dre. This is a ventilated helmet with an EPS liner that has a smartphone compatible cord that will let you adjust volume, click through songs, or take an incoming call. While I applaud the multitasking capabilities, this is expensive, and not really conducive to paying attention to your surroundings.
