The Electric French Press takes a fresh look on an old favorite

Have you ever wondered what the world would be like without coffee? If you are an avid coffee drinker, then there’s a chance you’ve had that nightmare before. Planes crashing out of the sky, the stock market crumbling, and…well, you get the drift. While our world might not change that drastically, we would sorely miss our favorite brown beverage. If you’re always on the lookout for new ways to brew, then then there’s an interesting combo that you might just be interested in.

It’s is adequately named the Electric French Press, and it takes the delightful flavor that a french press provides, and adds the ease of a drip coffeemaker. Instead of turning on the kettle and waiting for the water to boil, you simply pour in cold water, add your grounds into the glass carafe, and put in the plunger once the water has steeped the grounds. It can make about 4 cups, and comes in either off white, black, red, or lime green. This $60 caffeine machine is a neat idea that will take a couple of minutes off of the morning routine, but it takes some of the fun out of using a french press. Maybe that’s just me?

  • French press really benefits from a thorough stirring of grounds and water imho. Doesn't look like this machine does that.
