If you are an avid gamer, then you are likely searching for ways to make your experience more and more immersive. We’ve seen virtual reality helms and the like in the past, but nothing has really been over-the-top outstanding. While a wall-sized projector is about the closest we can get at the moment, it doesn’t mean there aren’t some amazing things on the horizon.
Microsoft has created something called the IllumiRoom, which is a system that turns whatever room you’re in into your game. The main focus is the TV screen, but the projector adds extra field of view, and changes the actual appearance of the room. Once called upon, it will use the geometry of the room that is captured from the Kinect, and gives you visuals in real time. What would the costs of something like this be? We don’t know yet, but more should be announced later this year. While we wait, enjoy this footage of the system in action. Yes, it’s in real time and wasn’t processed in post.
