Slimboat – the fastest loading web browser on the planet? [Freeware]

slimboat

We admit it. We’re suckers for speed. In some things. Most especially in things like web browsers where life’s too short to hang around waiting for a bit of software to load so you can find the opening time of your local restaurant. So every time we stumble across a cool, fast browser which comes with all the goodies, we sit up and take notice.

Now before we go on, an admission. We’re unfaithful web browser junkies and we’ll get our fix from anywhere that gives us the best results at the time. For a long period that meant Firefox , but suddenly the King lost its way and we ended up having to ditch it for the upstart Maxthon, because we were never that happy with Chrome.

But now we’re back in the arms of the delicious Firefox, and loving the new memory efficient, fast loading, add-on embracing environment that is second to none. Yay, Firefox rocks again.

But.

There’s still a need for an ultra fast loading browser which offers great features, and we’ve found it with SlimBoat . This freeware webkit powered beast loads faster than you can blink, and not only that, it comes with a bunch of tools which are lovely. Like an integrated translation button, a download YouTube video button and full Facebook integration for those with such needs.

One of the reasons we ditched Maxthon recently is the number of bugs we found with multimedia, which resulted in sluggish video playback and sites which didn’t load properly. Not so with SlimBoat. So far it’s handled everything we’ve thrown at it, plays top quality YouTube 1080p videos without a murmur and the video download manager is super fast and comprehensive in terms of resolutions on offer.

There’s even a site code inspector for those of you who design websites and need that kind of power built in. The darn thing even offers an integrated 5 day weather forecast widget for your location in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.

We’re loving it already. If you’re like us, you’ll download this puppy immediately and stick it on your task bar. Oh and it’s cross platform, so you can run it on Linux and Mac as well as Windows. A keeper!
