Word on the street has it that drug thefts from pharmacies and stores is on the increase, fuelled by an insatiable demand for pills to treat our mounting list of ailments. We’re talking 25 million doses a year in the US alone, disappearing from shelves and cabinets. That’s a lot of pills.
This Pill Box GPS Tracker is the first tool we’ve seen which is designed to fight back. The tiny tracking mechanism is embedded in a unlabeled bottle, so you can add your own label and contents depending on need. Once it’s moved, it will broadcast a GPS location ever minute and send an email or text message alert to your choice of phone or computer.
The bottle can stay a week on standby and once activated will stay alive for 1 hour before running out of battery, during which time it can be tracked on Google Maps in real time. It’s not cheap at $495.00, but that’s probably a small price to pay to secure the safety of our pill-popping citizens. Smiley doctor in white coat not included.
