Is the Porcellana Stovetop Espresso Maker the easy way out?

There are many different ways that you can have your morning caffeine intake. While drip brew coffee is delicious, there are some times where you want something a little stronger. Espresso is quite lovely, but can be obnoxious to make. This is why we normally leave making it to a barista, even though we’re not of a civil mind for human interaction at that point in the day.

If you’d prefer to make espresso with less fuss than standing in line, the Porcellana Stovetop Espresso Maker may be of interest to you. It consists of a ceramic pot, and a heat resistant aluminum base that combined can make about four 2-ounce cups of espresso. This will work on any kind of stove, and while the pot may be dishwasher safe, the base will need to be sink-washed. The base is to be filled with water, the grounds are placed in the funnel inside of the base, and the pot will sit on top, with the lip cradling the spout. This is a $40 purchase, and while it seems like it would make a delicious drink, I can’t speak for how it tastes in comparison to other methods.
