Are the outdoors calling your name? If blazing trails and running from bears is your idea of fun, then you’re going to need gear that can stand all the rough and tumble situations you may face. While your tent and backpack are important, your phone is your safety net if anything should happen to you in the wild, and most phones are fairly delicate things.
This is why the Kyocera Torque was made. This 4G LTE Android phone has a motto of “live more, fear less”. I don’t normally take a liking to phones, but this one can stand vibration, shock, IP67 standards for dust, humidity, solar radiation, blowing rain, salt fog, low pressure, extreme temperatures, and full immersion down to a meter for around 30 seconds. Seeing as I subject my phone to most of that on a daily basis at home, this is a decent find. It has the push-to-talk service, and will be the first in the US to have Smart Sonic Receiver Technology. This basically means that you will be able to hear clearly in noisy environments. This phone will be available on March 8th, and will cost around $100 if you remember to send in a $50 rebate.
