IRIScan Mouse – you swipe, it scans

iriscanmouse

There’s something that feels right about combining two functions like mousing and hand scanning into one piece of equipment. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re both very desktop oriented, or perhaps it’s because switching from one to the other should be as easy as possible.

This IRIScan Mouse is a 300dpi hand scanner built into a fully functional mouse. The bit they want you to remember is all you have to do is swipe your mouse over the page or document while holding the scan button, and it automatically grabs the image and transfers it to your computer screen for further action.

The product comes with a handy transport bag, cleaning swap and a software suite which provides for OCR transfer to word-processed documents or other destinations. There’s also a free 3 month Premium subscription to the online archiving service Evernote included in the pack, which is a nice touch. The whole thing is priced at $89 / €79.
