The app comes with 3 free effects included, a satellite crash, a UFO scene and some nicely explosive TNT barrels, and you can also buy a megapack of 13 additional effects for around $9.99 or individual effects for $0.99 each.

It’s very easy to use. Just choose your scene, start the effect you want to use, and line everything up in the scene. Press the start button, and the app will start videoing the scene for several seconds. Press the finish button and the effect and the video are merged, after which you can upload direct to YouTube or share with friends in the usual way. The finished footage is also stored on your phone.

The three free effects give a good idea of the kind of thing you can do, and if you need anything more exotic, just buy the effect you want for your home movie. The app only uploads at maximum 480p, irrespective of the resolution of your phone camera, and the clips are pretty short, but it’s still enough to have fun and impress people.
