If you’ve got a yard or a garden, you’ve got a problem right? Because chances are something somewhere wants to wander around your place at night, digging, foraging, and relieving. Nasty. Historically your best bet to combat the little critters was to sit on your porch with a shotgun all night, but that tended to annoy the neighbors and just wasn’t that charitable in general. Now there’s a much more PC alternative.
It may look like something the Terminator team might dream up after a heavy night on the sauce, all black and glistening with knobs and dials in strategic places, but this Orbit Yard Enforcer is designed to be a non lethal animal deterrent, which keeps them off your property through water rather than ammunition.
The unit is basically a water sprinkler with integrated heat and motion sensors. When it ‘sees‘ a creature approach to within 40 feet, it sets off a jet of water in their direction to scare them away. The clever thing is you can set it up to work only at night so you don’t soak the poor old postman, and if you’ve got a big problem or a large yard, you can set up a network of the things to batter the intruder from all angles.
As an added bonus, the Yard Enforcer also doubles up as a regular timed lawn sprinkler with 30 minute timed cycles and with a maximum spray distance of 35 feet. The central unit is battery powered and runs off 4 AA batteries, which last for 7500 cycles, which should be enough to keep most wannabe Clint Eastwoods going for a while. Priced at $75.62.
