GameKlip – use your favorite DualShock controller with any Android phone

Playing games on your smartphone is all well and good, but there’s no question that you don’t get the same experience without a proper controller to bring it all together. And while there are add-on controllers on the market, we’ve found them to be very much less than optimal in respect to performance and compatibility.

Which is what makes the GameKlip so interesting. This is not a controller, but a clip on bracket which integrates your phone to a standard Sony DualShock controller. There are no extra apps or rooting required, just attach the bracket to the controller and slot in your smartphone and you’re good to go.

The product is available in two variants. The first is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4 models, and the second is a universal mounting which will attach to any smartphone case, which means it will work with any Android phone as long as you have a case for it. The product also comes with a proprietary USB connect cable in case you cannot get the Bluetooth connection to work properly with your particular handset.

You also get a charger cable in the pack. Do note though, that due to the weirdness of carrier versions of Android, not all phones are compatible with the DualShock, so make sure you check out the compatibility guide before handing over your $19.95. There’s also a new model designed specifically for the Nexus 7 tablet. Nice.

[We should mention that you will have to supply your own DualShock controller, as that’s not included in the price. But you knew that, right?]
