HAPIfork – Bluetooth ‘smart’ fork teaches us how to eat better, lose weight and stay healthy

Remember when mother used to teach us how to eat properly? How she would lovingly coach us into healthier eating habits through bribery, or maybe a swift clip to the ear? But time passes, mothers become more distant, and eventually we lose that helpful advice, which means it’s difficult to gauge our own eating habits day to day. We need someone or something to monitor and improve our eating style.

The good folk over at HAPILABS have got you covered with the new HAPIfork, which is a unique electronic fork that helps you reduce your eating speed to cut back on calories. The fork lights up and vibrates to alert you when it senses you’re eating too fast, and also records “Fork Servings” (every time the fork is brought to your mouth) per minute. It can even tell you how long it took you to finish your meal. A whole new definition of fast food awaits.

There are also free iOS and Android apps available for the device, where you can track your own data and see how much of an improvement you’ve made over time. The fork runs off a rechargeable battery and is available for $99 via Brookstone.
