Square Jellyfish Spring Tripod Mount – the tiny tripod combo for smartphones [Review]

squarejellyfish5

One of the things about carrying a camera around with you inside your mobile phone is the fact that sometimes you need to take photos which require a little more inventiveness than just point and shoot. Low light, for example, usually needs a very steady hand, or if possible a tripod to keep the camera absolutely still. And that’s where this new product comes into play.

The Square Jellyfish Spring Tripod Combo is a neat set of tools designed to let you set up your smartphone for different types of photo needs. The basic module is the clamp unit which holds the actual handset, and which can be adjusted for landscape or portrait mode.

Along with the clamp there’s a micro tripod which is surprising sturdy for its size, and a ball junction unit which is used to allow for more angled options when setting up the phone in a position.

The end result is a combination kit which really should give you lots of alternatives for capturing just the right kind of shot, and the key point is the whole kit is small enough to fit into your pocket easily.

You are limited with the angle you can set the ball joint unit at, after which the whole thing topples over, especially with a larger heavier phone, but it should be fine for most situations, such as setting up a group shot at a dinner table or things like that.

All in all it’s a nice product for those who occasionally need to do low light or angled phone camera shots and can’t be bothered to lug around a large tripod or even something like a Gorillapod in their pockets. The whole kit won’t break the bank balance either at just $19.95.
