ReTech. As well as being one of the weirdest and most impenetrable sales sites this Ferret has ever encountered, Retech also stands out because of its rather…er…surreal?…collection of arty tech artifacts. Like this Planet Zog-like clock made out of scraps of motherboards, disk drives and the like. To you, $230.00. [Thanks Asher!] [Update: the site is very penetrable now! Well done!]

  • That is beautiful. Beautiful!

  • Isn’t it just Nathan, isn’t it just? :-)

    (but weird!)

  • Funny, I thought The Asher had passed away several years ago.

  • Huh? :-)

  • Huh, what? I thought he died.

  • Sorry, my confusion was that I didn’t even know that he was alive. Who’s The Asher, then? :-)

  • Red, I think we’re talking about the same person. The Asher IS the artist who developed those goods, and Retech.org. However, given that the site hadn’t been updated in so long, and that no one I know had heard from him, I thought he’d passed away, which would be a shame. His work was inspiring. Too bad we don’t see more of it.

  • Ah, I see. Thanks. I assume that he was elderly then? Otherwise he may just have given up on creating more work?

  • Elderly? No….not at all. A very young man. Did you think he was elderly from looking at the website?

  • Ah, sorry no. I just thought from what you said….No matter. Let’s just hope he’s still alive and kicking then eh? :-)
