The problems at the world’s most disliked budget airline appear to have deepened, with the release this week of a YouTube video showing desperate passengers trapped in a plane for nearly four hours, until after the airport had shut for the night. The passengers eventually had to phone the police to get themselves released, which puts a whole new spin on the phrase ‘getaway breaks‘.
The company is no stranger to controversy of course, but this latest episode, following on so closely after a second profit warning late last year doesn’t look good for either the company or the lifespan of its blunt talking CEO Michael O’Leary. Strangely enough the company doesn’t cite customer dissatisfaction as a cause of its financial problems.
We know that times are hard Michael, but kidnapping your passengers seems to be a rather strange business tactic, is it not?

Ah no, but to be fair, there are some routes where the *only* option is to fly Ryanair. Either because it’s too small a destination or the major airlines charge ridiculous prices or fly inconvenient schedules.
