Everyone wants to be a video star, right? But it’s not that easy. You see there’s equipment to buy, expertise to learn and time to spend, so it’s not an easy route to fame and fortune, that’s fer sure. But wait, ambitious person, there’s hope for you yet.
Tubestart is a great new service which offers a Kickstarter type crowdfunding function for anyone wanting to up their game in the YouTube video world. Anyone can start a campaign, and the reasons can vary from getting some funding to buy a new camera or computer to larger projects to create a YouTube series or major video idea.
The budgetary requirements tend to be much smaller than you’ll find on Kickstarter of course, and so are the rewards, but nevertheless it looks as though there are a fair number of successful projects going through their system, so it’s clearly working.
As with other crowdfunding services each campaign hinges around a video, but this time at least the videos are accessible via YouTube and not some locked in proprietary service like Kickstarter does. It’s all got a nice friendly feel to it, and certainly we could see any number of reasons why someone would use this if they have a YouTube presence.
Heck we have a project or two we’d like to crowdfund for our YouTube channel. Maybe we’ll put the thinking caps on. Great idea, well executed.
