Stylish and sturdy furniture made of cardboard

When it comes to new or stylish furniture, cardboard isn’t your first thought But KARTON is bucking this perception.

KARTON Bedroom

Karton’s recycled cardboard furniture includes everything from their Paperpedic bed, chests of drawers, TV units, room partitions, even cardboard animals that can be decorated and painted. And, as the video shows, it can stand up to the toughest tests for strength. Made by Stange Design, a German company that’s been designing and producing cardboard furniture for 30 years, each piece of furniture is versatile and very different from the traditional.

Each piece of furniture is delivered as a stack of flat-packed paper and can assembled without tools or glue. The company even offers step-by step, iPhone-friendly video instructions online. And for those committed to green lifestyles, KARTON furniture is made from board that’s a mix of virgin and recycled paper.

Based in Australia, this online-only retailer has a few new products up its sleeve due out over the coming months -including 3D paper wall tiles and a system for hanging clothes. These products look like they’re long lasting and would definitely be a conversation starter.

  • It’s going to be easier to converse with the furniture people at the
store when you know these terms. They can quickly recommend some of
their good stuff if you give them the right specs.
